Lucille Mary Auchstetter Becker
SUBLETTE – Lucille Mary Auchstetter Becker, 90, of Sublette, passed away Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon. She worked for Republic Home Builders in Chicago, before working as a private secretary to Ben Pabst, operations manager of Stewart Warner Corp., until the fall of 1945, when operations ceased.
She was the eldest of three children born Jan. 2, 1922, to John Andrew and Mary (Thealen) Auchstetter. She attended Sublette and Amboy schools, graduating from Amboy High School in 1939.
Lucille married Melvin Becker on Dec. 1, 1945, after his return from military duty in Europe. They lived in Maytown for 15 years before moving to Wisconsin. In 1978, they purchased the Bettendorf farm in Sublette and built a new home there.
