Chicago felon gets 85 years for Sterling shooting
MORRISON – A longtime felon who was free on parole when he shot an acquaintance last summer was sentenced Friday to 85 years in prison.
In May, a Whiteside County jury convicted Clarence O. Hopkins, 28, of Chicago, of attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, and being an armed habitual criminal.
He was sentenced to 55 years for attempted murder, and an additional 30 years on the other charges.
