Football: Kaecker forges on despite hearing deficiency
FRANKLIN GROVE – If the AFC football coaching staff ever seems to be yelling at their players a bit louder than normal, there’s a reason.
One of the Raiders, senior running back/linebacker Jake Kaecker, is mostly deaf. He was born 100 percent deaf in his right ear, and has only about 30 to 50 percent hearing in his left ear.
He wears a hearing aid when in class, at home or out in the public. But for his two favorite sports, football and wrestling, he gets by with what he’s got.
