Tourism improves in Sauk Valley
ROCK FALLS – Tourism is up in the Sauk Valley, as it is statewide.
In Whiteside County, the economic impact of tourism amounted to $35 million in 2011, an increase of 11.2 percent, according to recently released numbers from the U.S. Travel Association. In Lee County, the number was $28.5 million, an increase of 4.5 percent.
Statewide, tourism grew to 93.3 million visitors in 2011, up 10.2 percent from the previous year. That surpasses the previous high of 91 million in 2006, according to the state.
