Main Street, businesses prepare for big event

DIXON – With the big event a little more than a week away, business leaders and other organizers are putting together final preparations for what one called “the opportunity of a lifetime.”

The Mumford & Sons concert weekend is Aug. 17-19. The internationally known band and seven others are playing in Page Park on Aug. 18, before an anticipated crowd of 15,000. Among other things, a street festival, music and other events are being planned for that Friday and Saturday downtown.

Business leaders met again Tuesday night at Books on First to talk logistics. Dixon Main Street Executive Director Josh Albrecht is perhaps more than anyone else responsible for bringing the bands to town and among the lead event coordinators.
