Ride to raise money in Moroney’s memory

DIXON – All street-legal vehicles are welcome to participate Sept. 9 in a benefit motorcycle ride dedicated to the late Lee County Commissioner Hal Moroney.

Registration will begin at 10 with kickstands up at 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park on state Route 2 on the west edge of town. The ride will end at 5 p.m. at the Dixon Elks Lodge, 1279 Franklin Grove Road, for food, auctions and all kinds of fun.

Moroney, 65, was riding his motorcycle when he was hit by a car and killed Sept. 8 on state Route 2 near the Green Acres Mobile Home Park.
