Harold R. Hunsberger

STERLING – Harold R. Hunsberger, 83, of Sterling, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. He worked for more than 40 years as a tool and die maker at Frantz Manufacturing in Sterling.

He was born June 4, 1929, in Rock Falls, the son of Harold Abraham and Ada Mae (Stees) Hunsberger. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He married M. Ruth Roberson on June 25, 1952, in Mississippi. He was a member of First Christian Church in Sterling, Sterling American Legion Post 296 and the Sterling Family Moose. He enjoyed fishing and working about in his yard and home.

Surviving are his wife, M. Ruth; two daughters, Clarise (Daniel) Henson of Sterling and Robin Hunsberger of Nashville, Tenn.; two grandsons, Michael Breed and Brandon Johnson; two sisters, Leola Kent of Sterling and Cheryl (Ernie) Lippens of Harmon; and three brothers, Lowell (Corinne) Hunsberger of Dixon, Gerry (Judy) Hunsberger of Sterling and Roger (Carol) Hunsberger of Kennesaw, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold A. and Ada Mae Hunsburger; and two brothers, Kennard and Duaine Hunsberger.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by the funeral at 10 a.m., Wednesday at First Christian Church in Sterling, with the Rev. David Yonker officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Prairieville Cemetery in Prairieville. Arrangements were completed by McDonald Funeral Homes.

Memorials may be made to First Christian Church in Sterling or Home of Hope in Dixon.
