Health department gets help to prevent obesity, smoking
DIXON – Cathy Ferguson, who heads the Lee County Health Department, doesn’t like to see parents smoking while their children are in the car.
Neither does Kalin Werner, who recently started as a public health associate assigned to the department.
Werner, an Oakland, Calif., native, rarely saw parents smoking in cars with their children in the Golden State. But she said she has seen it often since arriving in Dixon.
