Shawn L. Willett

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Shawn L. Willett, 42, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, July 30, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. He worked as a metal sculptor for 12 years.

Shawn was born March 6, 1970, in Morrison, the son of Richard Dale and Marjie (Kilroy) Willett.

Survivors include his paternal grandmother, Audrey Reiger of Sterling; his father, Richard (Aggie) Willett of Rock Falls; his mother, Marjie Willett of Rock Falls; six sons, Ricky Russell of Arizona, Andrew Sharp of Clinton, Iowa, Cody Gereke of Woodstock, Jordan Hammelman of Cedar Rapids, Derrick Ryan of Sterling and Makki Willett of Cedar Rapids; four daughters, Cassandra Sharp of Morrison, Shauna Sharp of Rock Falls, Jami Willett of Sterling and Alexis Hammelman of Cedar Rapids; six brothers, William Bellows of Denver, Robert Bellows of Florida, Dondi (Karen) Willett of Nebraska, Doug (Brigitte) Willett of Sterling, Rikko Willett of Arizona and Kyle Ulve of Sterling; one sister, Keesha Gilson of Arizona; nine grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his fianceé, Mindy Bell of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, paternal grandfather, and several aunts and uncles.

No services are planned. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday at McDonald Funeral Home, 505 First Ave., Sterling.

A memorial has been established to the family.
