Preparing for memorial matches

ROCK FALLS – Coloma Township Park District will host the Jeffrey “Todd” McThenia Memorial Tennis Tournament Aug. 18 at Centennial Park, Avenue D and East 11th Street.

McThenia was a student at St. Francis College in Joliet. He died in 1991 of cancer at the age of 26. Proceeds from the tournament will go to the Whiteside County cancer fund. Donations are welcome; contact the park district at 508 E. 11th St., Rock Falls, IL 61071.

McThenia’s friends, especially Marc Wolens and Dick Akridge, began, and still direct, the tournament in his honor.
