That was one sneaky storm

Boy did I get caught in a doozy last night. There we were, anchored up, lines in the water just waiting on a big flathead to bite. Then, out of nowhere, the wind jumps up to 50 miles an hour, the lightning starts kissing the ground and the rain drops in buckets.

Now, I like me a good storm every once in awhile, don’t get me wrong, and we need the rain ... but how about just a little notice next time? When storms come in on ya in the dark like that, they have a way of creeping into your mind and really worrying you. Fortunately, the storm was short-lived, and other than being damp, there was no harm, no foul.

We had a great camp this last weekend down at Prophetstown State Park. Let’s see, there were bags flying, hillbilly Jenga falling, fish frying, chops grilling. Then there were kids getting free stuff, catfish being caught, fireside chats and new friendships being made. Just another awesome catfish camp here on the Rock River. For 3 straight days, we hit it hard and had a great time. If all this stuff sounds good to you, stay tuned to the catfishacademy.com website for details on next year’s event. Then, you can be there, too.

Good or bad? Depends on who you ask

Sometimes readers ask for more good news in the paper. They say we in the media only cover the bad. But one person's positive is another's negative.

My kind of game

I would have gladly paid to take in the game I covered Saturday morning in Morrison.
