Schilling: Get Thomson prison sale done
THOMSON – U.S. Rep. Bobby Schilling, R-Colona, is teaming up with a Democrat to lobby a Republican colleague to stop blocking the sale of the state-built Thomson prison to the federal government.
Opening the facility would mean more than 1,000 jobs for Carroll County, officials say.
For months, the prison has been a political football. Rep. Frank Wolf, a Republican from Virginia, a member of a key subcommittee, has been blocking the sale in Congress.
