ROCK FALLS – The Rock Falls 9-10 Little League baseball team isn’t old enough to play in the Little League World Series for another couple of years. But their recent run through the postseason sure has felt like it.
The Rock Falls team is a perfect 6-0 in the district and sectional tournaments, beating rival Sterling for the district title and sweeping three games at their own field for the sectional crown. Up next is this weekend’s state tournament in Rushville, where the team hopes to put the perfect capper on its summer.
“It’s been really fun,” shortstop Jared Rasmussen said. “Winning these games has felt like winning the Little League World Series. Our [postseason] goal is to win as many games as we can, and we still have a few more left that we want to get.”
