No charges filed yet in Halgren house fire
City still unsure about what to do with property
ROCK FALLS – No charges have been filed in a suspicious fire that heavily damaged the former home of a longtime Rock Falls scofflaw on July 16.
Police Chief Mike Kuelper said he is waiting for reports from the state fire marshal’s office, which may be back in a month or two, before handing over the case to Whiteside County State’s Attorney Gary Spencer.
In the meantime, the city, which now owns the property at 812 Ave. A,, is doing what it can to secure it.
