Marianne V. Griesbach
STERLING – Marianne V. Griesbach, of Sterling, died Thursday, July 26, 2012, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.
She was born Oct. 20, 1922, in Hollandtown, Wis., the daughter of William and Ellen (Curtin) Van Abel. She served in the Navy during World War II. She married Ralph Griesbach on May 26, 1950, in Hollandtown.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling and the Altar and Rosary Society. She had a strong faith. She was known for her sharp wit and sense of humor. Over the years, she was involved in many sports, including tennis, bowling and baseball. She had belonged to Rock River Country Club and was active in the Ladies Golf Association. Over several years, she played in the Lincoln Highway Tournament. She enjoyed playing cards, word games and crossword puzzles.
