Flooring store has new leadership

STERLING – Carpetland USA has a new manager, and soon will have a new look.

Jason Smith, 41, has been leading the flooring store since January.

Smith, a Sterling native, graduated from Sterling High School in 1989. He is married to Brenda Smith, and he has three stepchildren: Jeremy Hunter, 22; Jordan Clark, 19; and Justin Hunter, 16.

The store at 2929 E. Lincolnway is getting “a big facelift,” Smith said.

The storefront is being remodeled, and rocks and plants have been added to the front. Metal will be added to the back, Smith said.

“They’re going to add a little more color to it, texture and everything,” he said.

You can call the store at 815-626-6300.

Photography studio closes

ROCK FALLS – Allstarzz Photography & More is closing.

Deb Toth, 47, of Harmon, opened the photography studio and resale shop at 119 W. Second St. in late February.

Landlord John Dorenbos said Tuesday that Toth is removing items from the store, and that she had notified him that she planned to vacate the building by the end of July.

Toth offered portrait photos and shoots of athletic events. The store sold scrapbooking materials, and Toth said when she opened that she hoped to offer scrapbooking classes. She also sold household items from Toth Auction House, which is owned by her husband, Mike.

Toth did not return calls seeking comment on the closure.
