DIXON – Lee County State’s Attorney Henry Dixon plans to pursue a murder indictment in the case of a 79-year-old Amboy man who was killed in his home July 18.

In the meantime, a preliminary hearing will be held a week from today for Matthew W. Welling, 32, who, investigators say, has confessed to struggling with an elderly man after a night of drinking in a local bar.

Welling is in Lee County Jail on a $2 million bond, charged with first-degree murder and two counts of home invasion in the death of Delmar Leroy Daniels.
