DIXON – Utley Noble Jr., 72, of Dixon, died Friday, July 20, 2012, at Rockford Memorial Hospital. 

He was born Oct. 25, 1939, in Dixon, the son of Utley and Emma (Godfrey) Noble. He had been credit manager for Salon Centric in Dixon prior to his retirement. He was a veteran of the Army and was a member of the Dixon American Legion Post 12, the 40 ET 8 and the Dixon Gyros Club.

Utley married Mary McGrath on Jan. 7, 1961, in Dixon. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Utley (Lisa) Noble III of Franklin, Tenn., and Grennan (Mariya) Noble of Des Plaines; a daughter, Amy (Scott) Stern of Park Ridge; and a sister, Jan Boomgarden of Loves Park.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Noble.

Cremation rites have been accorded and burial of cremains will be at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.

On pensions, Bivins and GOP far apart

Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, joined with many of his fellow Senate Republicans this week to reject a pension bill sponsored by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago. The measure passed 40-16. Bivins had a different reason for his no vote.
