Statehouse candidate to tour Sterling YWCA

STERLING – One of the candidates vying to represent the redrawn 71st House District will be in Sterling today.

Mike Smiddy, a Democrat from Hillsdale, will tour the YWCA, 412 First Ave. in Sterling. A news conference will follow at 11 a.m. that is open to the public.

Smiddy is running against state Rep. Rich Morthland, R-Cordova, in a district that has been redrawn to include more of Whiteside County, including the Sterling-Rock Falls area.
