Sportsmanship winners honored at 90th annual event

MORRISON – There was a certain amount of Charm to the closing of the 90th annual Women’s Lincoln Highway Golf Tournament on Saturday at Prairie Ridge Golf Course.

Before club pro Heath Warner announced the winners, he introduced Ray Gilbert, who spoke about the Charm Gilbert Sportsmanship Award that has been presented each year since 1995.

Charm Gilbert, Ray’s wife, was an avid golfer who died in 1993. Each year since 1995, a different Lincoln Highway golfer has been recognized for their sportsmanship and contributions to the tourney. This year’s honorees were Joyce Hogue of Prairie Ridge and Deena Thatcher of Rock River.
