A Devine day
Crowds gather in downtown Dixon to welcome wounded Marine
DIXON – Although Saturday morning began cloudy and rainy, it was nothing but blue skies and sunshine by the time a welcome-home parade for 22-year-old Marine Lance Cpl. Adam Devine stepped off.
This was Adam’s first weekend home since a Dec. 28 explosion in Afghanistan took both his legs. In advance of the 11 a.m. kickoff at Dixon High School, well-wishers lined the Peoria Avenue Bridge to prepare to watch the hometown hero go by.
In his dress uniform and white cap, Adam sat tall on the back of a red Mustang. The crowd waved American flags large and small as the parade wound through town.
