John Deere Classic: Stricker overcomes slow start in run at fourth straight title
SILVIS – Despite toasty conditions Thursday at TPC Deere Run, it took a while for Steve Stricker to warm up in his pursuit of a fourth consecutive John Deere Classic title.
The Edgerton, Wis., native carded four birdies and a show-stopping eagle on the back nine after playing even through the front to shoot a 6-under 65.
“It was a slow start, and I was really a little out of sorts,” Stricker said. “I was unsettled, I guess you’d say. But birdies on 10 and 12 kind of got me going.
