Donald G. Houzenga

STERLING – Donald G. Houzenga, 74, of 506 Eighth Ave., Sterling, died Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Genesis Medical Center East, Davenport, Iowa. He farmed in the rural Morrison and Sterling areas and worked at Northwestern Steel and Wire Co.

Donald was born Oct. 22, 1937, in Fulton, the son of Richard and Hilda (Eissens) Houzenga. He married Charlotte R. Buikema on Nov. 20, 1956, in Morrison. He was a member of Amazing Grace of Sterling.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Donna Rubright and Marlyss (Dave) Justice, both of Morrison, and Diane (Bill) Boden of Sterling; two sons, Marvin Houzenga of Morrison and Dennis (Beth) Houzenga of Prophetstown; two sisters, Carol (Ray) Barsema of Fulton and Lorraine (Don) Resel of Montpelier, Iowa; two brothers, Kenneth (Marj) Houzenga of Morrison and Richard “Dick” (June) Houzenga of Chadwick; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
