Petunia Parade winners honored

DIXON – The Sauk Valley Community Church walked away from this year’s Petunia Parade with the award for best float.

The Dixon church was one of 12 groups to be recognized. Another church, Crossroads Community Church, took second for best float.

Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, joined with many of his fellow Senate Republicans this week to reject a pension bill sponsored by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago. The measure passed 40-16. Bivins had a different reason for his no vote.
