Former museum district director facing theft charge
Oregon woman accused of stealing between $10,000 and $100,000
BYRON – The former director of the Byron Museum District has been arrested and charged with felony theft after Illinois State Police investigators say she stole between $10,000 and $100,000 from the district.
Jessica C. McCanse, 34, of Oregon, turned herself in at Ogle County Jail on July 3, after a warrant was issued for her arrest. She was released on $4,000 bond and has an Aug. 3 court date. She faces 3 to 7 years if convicted.
According to court documents, the theft occurred between July 3, 2009 and February 2011. McCanse has since resigned.
