Albert B. Halstenberg
DIXON – Albert B. Halstenberg, 90, of Dixon, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon. Early in his career, he was a pressman at The Dixon Telegraph and later was superintendent of Dixon Publishing. He retired in 1987 from the maintenance division of the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Albert was born March 16, 1922, in Centralia, the son of William and Emma (Sprehe) Halstenberg. He married Lois M. Munselle on Nov. 24, 1972, in Rockton. Albert served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dixon, Dixon Elks Club B.P.O.E. 779, Dixon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 540 and the Dixon Country Club. He enjoyed hunting, bowling and playing golf. He had a hobby of buying, selling and repairing golf carts.
Survivors include two daughters, Valerie Sue (Ed) Detweiler of Dixon and Kim (Craig) Van Langen of Urbandale, Iowa; one stepdaughter, Cindy (Robert) Fassler of Dixon; two stepsons, John (Sue) Bivins of Franklin Grove and Tim (Terri) Bivins of Dixon; 13 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
