ROCK FALLS – William “Bill” Beightler, 82, of Rock Falls, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. He was a truck driver with Rock Falls Cartage for 30 years, retiring in 1992.

He was born April 17, 1930, in Dayton, Ohio, a son of Earl and Edna (Meir) Beightler. He married Patricia Putman on June 9, 1951, in Sterling. She preceded him in death on March 6, 2001.

Survivors include his children, Debra (Joseph) Scanlan Jr. of Rock Falls, Billie (Jerry) Hipple of Dixon, Jerry Beightler of Sterling and Robin Beightler of Rock Falls; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family service was held. Arrangements were completed by McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory in Rock Falls.
