Stressed plants lead to lower yield, experts say
Extreme heat coupled with a lack of rainfall this summer likely will hurt Sauk Valley crops, area experts say.
Danelle Burrs, manager of the Lee County Farm Bureau, said she expects crop yields to be down this year.
“We are definitely in a drought, and actually a large part of the state and the country is in some manner lacking the average rainfall and the average moisture,” Burrs said.
