2 killed in rural Aledo house fire
ALEDO (AP) — Investigators in western Illinois say two people are dead after a fire and explosion that leveled a home in rural Aledo.
Mercer County Sheriff's Deputy Jeff Dale says deputies called to make a welfare check at the home found the house on fire.
Dale says the fire spread rapidly and several fire departments were called to fight the blaze. He says something inside the home exploded as the house burned.
