City gets grant to buy search-and-rescue ATV

ROCK FALLS – The City Council voted Tuesday night to raise the salary of the part-time treasurer’s position from $2,400 to $3,600 a year.

This is the first raise for the position since 2000. Treasurer Suzanne Dir, who works 3 days a week, has said she plans to run for re-election. The raise takes effect after the April 9 election.

Also Tuesday, the Rock Falls Tourism Department Board of Directors presented the city with $5,000 to be used to pay for a commercial to promote Rock Falls, calling it “a wonderful opportunity.”
