Loss of job still hurts, even one year later
July 14, 2011, is a day I will not forget. Katie, Paula and I, the last of the former employees of Cathy’s, were fired.
We were told by Marion Wilson that the council of churches told her to fire us for using the “b” word. Some Christians do not like that word. And since PADS was connected to the restaurant, we had to go by their rules.
Never warned; nothing. We never used the word in a derogatory way. We used to teasingly call each other that if one of us won on a lottery ticket or won a pool of some kind.
