Mini golf fundraiser for K-9 cop equipment

ROCK FALLS – A miniature golf fundraiser will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. July 11 at Rainbow Falls Adventure Golf, 1109 W. Rock Falls Road (U.S. Route 30), to raise money to help out K-9 cop Nero.

Rock Falls Police need about $1,500 to buy a K-9 Hot-N-Pop, a device that automatically activates a horn honk signal, activates the light bar, starts a fan and rolls down a squad car’s windows if it gets too hot inside.

Nero sometimes must be left inside a squad car, for instance, while officers are investigating a crime scene, and a Hot-N-Pop will keep him safe.

The device also can open the car door via a remote if an officer needs his dog by his side in an emergency.

The entry fee is $5 per person, with prizes of $100 for first place, $50 for second and $25 for third place.
