Gerald M. Wolff

STERLING – Gerald M. Wolff, 84, of Sterling, peacefully fell asleep in the Lord on Monday, July 2, 2012, at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore. He was an accountant at Emerson Electric for 18 years.

Gerald was born Aug. 29, 1927, in Marion, Ind., the son of Francis and Grace (Kinder) Wolff. He served in the Navy as seaman first class on a destroyer during World War II. He married Norma Dather on June 10, 1972, in Canoga Park, Calif. Gerald was a member of Bethel Reformed Church in Sterling. He was a volunteer with the CGH Auxiliary in the ER, and he enjoyed reading.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Norma of Sterling; two daughters, Judy (Mark) McGuire of Sterling and Jamie (Malcolm) Centers of Sacramento, Calif.; two grandsons, Billy (Jennifer) McGuire and Travis (Keri) McGuire; five great-grandchildren, Raya, Lilly, Ella, Elliot and Grace; one aunt, Maxine Whitney of Simi Valley, Calif.; and several dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Charlotte Sharp.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by the funeral at 10:30 a.m., Friday at Bethel Reformed Church in Sterling, with the Rev. Ken Zuithoff officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Rock Island National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Bethel Reformed Church Library and the CGH Medical Center Auxiliary.
