POLO – Ruth Joyce Hambley Humphreys, 90, of Polo, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012, at her home, after a courageous battle with lung cancer, surrounded by her family.

Ruth was born March 1, 1922, in Buffalo Township, Polo, the daughter of Albert and Verna (Smyth) Hambley. She attended the Moore Country School for 8 years and graduated from Polo Community High School with the class of 1940.

Ruth married Dean Hunter Humphreys March 25, 1944, in Dixon. She joined Polo Church of the Brethren on April 7, 1939, and was a Sunday school teacher for many years, and an active member of the Gleaner’s Class and the Women’s Fellowship.
