MORRISON – Ogle County officials have asked a Whiteside County judge to dismiss a lawsuit that was filed against them by the brother of a teenage girl murdered more than 60 years ago.

Berwyn attorney Austin Zimmer filed a motion in late May to dismiss the lawsuit, saying that Warren Reed and Mike Arians, co-founders of the Mary Jane Reed Foundation, do not have a “recognizable legal interest” that grants them the right to sue.

Zimmer also wants the case be transferred to Ogle County, where the victim lived and the crime was committed.
