Sight to behold: Milledgeville grad shines despite cancer that claimed left eye
When Brooke Kappes wants to pull a practical joke, she has the ability to make it a doozy.
A recent graduate of Milledgeville High School, Kappes was the starting left fielder for the Missiles softball team the last two seasons. If that alone wasn’t that remarkable, consider that Kappes patrolled the outfield grass with a glass eye in her left eye socket.
Kappes, 18, was known to leave the eye on the desk of a teacher or two at school, but quit when that particular attempt at humor became a bit hackneyed. Her top prank came as an eighth-grader, at a state student council convention in Springfield.
