Video gaming machines not good for region
The Dixon City Council recently decided to allow bars to install video gaming machines. If individual bars or restaurants decide to install those machines, it will open the door for legal gambling to get a foothold into the lives of some individuals who otherwise would not have fallen into the addiction of gambling.
Jim Neville, assistant vice president of operations for Blackhawk Music Co., said: “It is not going to ruin this community, and prohibition does not work. If we prohibit it in this community, they will go to Sterling, they will go to Rock Falls, and you will lose tax dollars.”
I agree that the one who is already addicted to gambling will go where he can to satisfy his addiction. He is not the one whose lifestyle will be changed.
