STERLING – A Sterling teen was in fair condition Tuesday evening after being hit by a van while riding his bike Monday afternoon on East Third Street.

Dakota L. "Cody" Shake was taken to CGH Medical Center and later airlifted to Rockford Memorial Hospital where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said Tuesday.

The accident happened about 3:37 p.m. in the 500 block. Gary L. Jackley, 51, of Rock Falls, was eastbound when he hit Shake, who was riding across the street, Sgt. Todd Messer said.
