Amboy grad plans to return home soon, buy a house
DIXON – Army Spc. Michael Shoemaker Jr. of Lee County, who was hurt in an explosion more than 3 months ago, was released from a Florida hospital on Tuesday.
That afternoon, his wife, Brittany Shoemaker, was driving him to Fort Bragg, N.C., where he is stationed.
In a telephone interview, Shoemaker said things were “going well.” He said he was headed to Fort Bragg’s Warrior Transition Battalion, which provides primary care and case management for soldiers who have been injured or fallen ill.
