Joan P. Hipple

DIXON – Joan Patricia Hipple, 78, of Dixon, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at her home. She worked at Sauk Valley Community College for 34 years before retiring in 2004.

Joan was born April 22, 1934, in Dixon, the daughter of Patrick and Elizabeth (McBride) Dunphy. She married Gerald L. Hipple in Dixon. He preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 1995. Joan was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon.

Survivors include one son, Jerry (Billie) Hipple, and one daughter, Pamela (Rick) Topper, both of Dixon; one brother, Hubert (Theresa) Dunphy of Apache Junction, Ariz.; one grandson, Derek (Kelly) Hipple; and one great-grandson, Aidan Hipple.

She also was preceded in death by a son, Robert, and a daughter, Debra, both in infancy.

Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m., with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m., Sunday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with the Rev. John E. Gow, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon.

A memorial has been established to Disabled Veterans.
