Farewell, Harry Ulferts, one of the city’s finest

I am writing to let the fine people of Dixon know that the two biggest outlaws in Lee County and Whiteside County may have to take a little less press time so that we can say goodbye to a very fine man, who is more than worthy of front-page coverage.

I happened to have Harry Ulferts as a weapons instructor in the 1980s. Harry Ulferts and Bill Webb were two of the finest people my fellow pupils and I had ever come across.

So, to you outlaws, Rita Crundwell and Nick Sheley, hang your heads. Mr. Harry Ulferts earned every one of his accomplishments in life, and they were wonderful ones.
