BELVIDERE – Anna Marie Thain Rockwood, 70, of Belvidere, died Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at Home Bridge Care Center in Belvidere after a long illness.

Anna was born March 14, 1942, in Massbach, the daughter of Lawrence and Alfreda (Haas) Thain.

Anna graduated from Rock Falls High School in 1960. She attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb and Highland Community College School of Nursing in Freeport. 

Anna was a homemaker and devoted mother. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and gardening and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Falls.

Survivors include son, Jonathan Rockwood; daughters, Shannan Rockwood Callahan and Erann Rockwood Cantu; grandchildren, Angelica, Robert and Allison Cantu, Dylan and Ryan Callahan, and Arianna and Diego Alfaro-Cantu; and brother, Gerald (Priscilla) Thain.

She was predeceased by her parents; and former husband, Robert Rockwood.

A celebration of Anna’s life will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Heartland Community Church, 1280 S. Alpine Road, Rockford. Arrangements were completed by Cremation Society of Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Visiting Nurses Association (VNA), 4223 E. State St., Rockford, IL, 61107.
