Flotilla of kayaks, canoes to make Rock River trip
DIXON – A flotilla of kayaks and canoes will paddle its way from Grand Detour to Dixon on Aug. 11, organizers said.
Participants will set out at 9 a.m. across the street from John Deere Historic Site, 8334 Clinton St. They can register there or ahead of time for $10. Those younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult, and all participants must wear life jackets.
They’ll take a rest stop complete with a snack and sports drinks at Lowell Park, said organizer John Weitzel, a Dixon Park Board member.
