Pat A. McBride

ROCKFORD – Pat A. McBride, 81, of Rockford, died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, June 17, 2012, at her home.

She was born Aug. 7, 1930, in Mendota, the daughter of Edward and Mary E. (Andrew) McBride. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1948, Northern Illinois University with a bachelor of science degree in 1952 and Colorado State University with a master of science degree in 1959.

Pat was a physical education, swimming and health instructor for 30 years, retiring in 1985 from Rockford District 205. She was an Illinois High School Association official in volleyball, basketball, track and field, cross country, field hockey and softball for more than 35 years. She also was an American Softball Association boys’ fast pitch official and a state official for boys and girls track and field in the ‘80s, and the Grand Marshal of East High School’s track relays in 1993. In 2010, Pat was inducted into the Distinguished Alumni Class of 1948 Sterling Schools Foundation.
