Confession remains in play; hearing on prior bad acts next week
DIXON – A Lee County associate judge Monday denied murder defendant Byron Adams’ request for a third court-appointed attorney.
Judge Charles Beckman also refused to reconsider his decision to allow a Lee County jury to hear Adams’ apparent confession to the murder of Margaret Atherton.
Adams, who turns 54 today, is charged with three counts of first-degree murder; his trial begins Aug. 13.
