Aurora police focusing on tinted vehicle windows
AURORA (AP) — Police in Aurora are on the lookout for vehicles with dark tinted windows.
The Daily Herald reports ( http://bit.ly/PcFXYU ) police in Aurora issued nearly 300 citations for dark windows in the first five months of this year. Last year they wrote two tickets during the same time period.
Aurora police and officers in other Chicago suburbs are using light meters to measure the amount of light that comes through windows. The police are writing the tickets under a state law that sets limits on how dark windows can be tinted. The law was passed after a police officer was shot while approaching a vehicle.
