Robert W. Straw

DIXON – Robert W. Straw, 95, of Dixon, died Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Heritage Square in Dixon. He was a lifetime farmer in Lee County.

Robert was born March 27, 1917, in Dixon, the son of Carl C. and Cenie M. (Seyster) Straw. He married Vora M. Mosher on July 7, 1940, in Champaign. She preceded him in death on Jan. 6, 2011. Robert was a member of Sterling Christian Church for 30 years and First Christian Church in Dixon for the past 15 years. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1930, and was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. Robert was a member of Prairieville Cemetery Board, and a past member of Lee County Service Co. Board of Directors, County Livestock Elders Association and Jordan School Board.

Survivors include four sons, David (Linda) Straw of Richmond, Ind., George Straw of Fairfield, Iowa, and Paul (Nelda) Straw and Ronald (Ruth) Straw, both of Dixon; one sister, Shirley Virginia Adams of Fergus Falls, Minn.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
