Buy no more: All 15,000 Mumford & Sons tickets gone in 8 hours

Other bands, activities still being lined up, event organizers say

DIXON – It took only about 8 hours for all 15,000 Mumford & Sons tickets to sell.

Dixon Main Street Executive Director Josh Albrecht said he received word a little after 6 p.m. Saturday night that all seats for the Aug. 18 show had sold. They went on sale at 10 that morning.

Dixon is one of four U.S. stops in the band’s Gentlemen of the Road tour.

“We were completely amazed and elated that they went so quickly,” Albrecht said. “The $59 tickets sold out in 3 minutes.”

Jam Productions, which is coordinating the festival-like concert, said more than 800 tickets were sold in Dixon, which demonstrates how the community is embracing the Page Park concert, Albrecht said

He encouraged people to keep checking gentlemenoftheroad.com and Dixon Main Street’s Facebook page for updates on concerts being planned for after the main show, for which tickets still are available.

“We do hope to have a good downtown festival atmosphere that day,” he said. “There is still going to be a lot of activities going on.”

Albrecht said 5,500 camping tickets also were sold Saturday to those coming to the concert from out of town. Dixon Main Street is planning downtown activities for that Friday night for the visitors.

Main Street also is working with Dixon police to arrange the 4,000 parking spots needed for the concert. Main Street also will be working on security, food vendors and other aspects needed to make the event perfect, he said.

The organization wants a “smooth, safe process, one that the community can enjoy and get behind,” he said.

Albrecht said he heard from people as far away as Oregon and Colorado who are planning to attend.

“It’s exciting to hear people talk about it in the community,” he added. “We are going to take every step that we can to make it a wonderful event for the city and the Sauk Valley.”
