Randel Grant Stoudt

STERLING – Randel Grant Stoudt, 61, of Sterling, left for his final long, strange trip on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at home after a long illness.

Randy was born Dec. 17, 1950, to LeRoy and Bertha (Ohda) Stoudt in Sterling. He served in the Army as a medic with HQ Batry, 1st Bn, 92 Arty in Vietnam. He loved going to concerts, especially Grateful Dead shows; fishing; riding his bicycle and spending time with his friends, family and dogs.

He is survived by his daughters, Amber and Nycole Stoudt, both of Chicago; siblings, Nancy Gibson of Hanover, Pat Apgar of Rock Falls, Gary Stoudt of Texas, Rick Stoudt (Susan Beaty) of Rock Falls, Teresa (Richard) Sodergren of Dixon and Janice Crossland of Sterling; several nieces and nephews; and his friend and ex-wife, Victoria Geiger.

He also leaves his beloved dog, Kozmo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Martin Stoudt; and his best friend, Steven Andrews of South Beloit.

His beloved dog, Aiko, also died.

His daughters wish to express their gratitude to Hospice of the Rock River Valley, his doctors and nurses at the VA Hospital and the oncology staff of the UW Hospital in Madison, Wis.

In keeping with the wishes of our beloved father, Randy will be cremated. In lieu of traditional services, a memorial benefit to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
