Fulton council OKs video gambling
FULTON – Bar patrons soon will be able to gamble at Fulton bars using video gaming machines, with an ordinance passed Monday by aldermen. In addition to added revenue for businesses, the gaming also will provide funds for the city and state.
“Allowing the gaming would help increase revenue and bring more people into town,” Paddle Wheel Pizza and Pub owner Larry Leonard said.
Leonard, along with several other bar owners, have worked to get video gaming started at their establishments. The operation and use of the machines are heavily regulated not only by the state, but also by the vendors who provide the machines. Much like all other forms of gambling, patrons must be 21 or older to use the machines and only establishments with a liquor license can obtain the machines.
